Feeding Crops to Feed the World – You Can Bet The Farm On It

Image

Experts from Canada and around the World will be gathering soon in Saskatoon Saskatchewan (July 15, & 16, 2014) to discuss some “hot potatoes” surrounding nutrient stewardship’s role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions while improving crop production. The Canadian Prairie City Saskatoon will be a hub buzzing with agricultural producers, agri-retailers, governments, academics, and industry experts all collaborating under one roof. So what’s the buzz about? It will be the home base for the International Stewardship Symposium!

Want a Sneak Peak?

Well I won’t “spill ALL the beans” but with the program lineup finalized, and as the presenters are putting the finishing touches on their presentations, it’s time to spill a bit. The conference theme is Feeding Crops to Feed the World and addresses issues requiring global attention – 4R nutrient stewardship (Right Source @ Right Rate, Right Time, Right Place), agricultural economics, food security, sustainability, and environmental concerns. All which require a collective action for progress, so there’s no better time for discussing these “hot potato” questions. And as the saying goes, you can bet the farm on it – It’s a must see event for agriculture in 2014.

Sessions specialize in a variety of streams from grower perspectives, to nutrient stewardship, to economics, to International outreach, and development. It’s more than just a conference of academics it’s a symposium of farming minds working together tackling the tough questions of today and tomorrow.

Attendees of the Stewardship Symposium will be discussing sustainable solutions such as integrating nutrient stewardship concepts, practices for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture, and showcasing some of the latest agricultural research, examples, and applications for the future.

The Big Questions To Be Answered?

Participants will be actively involved in discussions surrounding the really big questions on everyone’s minds:

How and why is 4R Nutrient Stewardship a feasible plan for global sustainability?

How can improved soil fertility, nutrient use efficiency, and 4R nutrient stewardship contribute to global agriculture and economic development, particularly in the developing world?

How can we connect nutrient stewardship practices and achieve global cohesiveness?

What are some examples of 4R Nutrient Stewardship success and challenges, and how are you looking to improve on them?

What will it take for agriculture to meet reductions in Greenhouse Gases?

Who’s Who of the Symposium?
